The 7th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction will take place between 23 and 27 May 2022 in Bali, Indonesia. The Government of Indonesia and UNDRR co-chair the GP2022. The platform recognised by the UN General Assembly and organised by UNDRR brings together governments, the UN system, and stakeholders to discuss the Sendai Framework implementation. In addition, the multi-stakeholder forum facilitates knowledge sharing and discussion on the latest developments regarding disaster risk reduction.
This year’s conference is divided into a range of thematic topics, focusing on disaster risk governance, COVID-19 recovery, and DRR financing, whereas cross-cutting themes include the Sendai Framework Stocktaking, leave no one behind, and SDGs and climate action.
UNU-EHS is represented with its own exhibit on-site and virtually, hosting virtual and in-person events. The UNU-EHS exhibit follows the theme “Together for adaption – Climate finance and risk analytics for the most vulnerable”, addressing the challenges and opportunities in the developing world for risk understanding, risk governance, funding risk reduction, and disaster preparedness and recovery, in line with the four principles outlined by the Sendai Framework. The UNU-EHS exhibit will offer the following formats:
ECA-TALKS: The exhibit will host panel discussions, live Q&A’s, and what we call the “ECA-Talks”, which are short interviews with members of the ECA-Network on their experience dealing with these topics.
HYBRID EVENTS: As part of the Innovation Platform, we will have a virtual presence and a booth at the venue, allowing for remote, in-person, and hybrid contributions. The main objective of the exhibit is to highlight the role of collaboration and inclusion in empowering local risk managers with appropriate data, analytics, access to financial mechanisms, and innovation to support sustainable adaptation.
CONTRIBUTIONS: The ECA-Network Exhibit at the Innovation Platform will be open from 24 to 27 May and will have sessions from 9:00 to 17:00 GMT+8. We welcome your contribution either in-person or virtually!
